As a multi-cultural bath house and boutique hotel, Haus is a premier destination for in or out of state guests. This project is unique because while there are many opportunities to create an experience highlighting one single culture, it is less common to find one that exhibits multiple cultures all in one place (or under one roof). Haus is a mixing pot of Roman, Greek, and Turkish cultures as they relate to ancient bathing practices. A soothing palate of earth tones, water infused spaces, and a tranquil environment , you will find Haus restorative.
This studio course develops the student's ability to solve complex design problems. The course studies issues of client analysis, programming, space planning, design and selection of interior components, and lighting in a logical sequence building on concepts presented in previous studios. Instruction emphasizes the 3D possibilities of multilevel projects through the design of stairs, elevators, and mezzanines.
This studio course addresses issues related to space planning in commercial design. Students generate design concepts for couples multilevel project requirements. The handling of circulation, spacial adjacencies, individual offices and workstations receive prime consideration. Space planning strategies, issues of social and environmental sustainability, and code requirements (including exiting and handicap accessibility) also form an important part of the process.
The architecture of a structure and its building systems must be considered in the interior design process in order to meet functional and aesthetic criteria. This course deals with the basic construction and materials of both commercial and residential buildings and the process through which a building passes from a concept to a move-in ready structure. This includes components; connection; the mechanical systems necessary for heating, air-conditioning, electrical wiring, and plumbing; and the drawings required for professional interior design practice.
